Something different is happening at MIlls

We envision a world of creative, curious, and confident children who engage in meaningful activities to become independent thinkers. This means we actively seek and welcome educators and innovators who themselves are creative, curious, and confident.

What makes a mills teacher?

Mills teachers empower and inspire. They seek to understand their students as individuals and nurture their growth by proactively presenting opportunities and cultivating bespoke learning experiences. But as a member of the Mills family, teaching is just the bread and butter. Our teachers have ideas for bigger projects and grand-scale opportunities for their students, the school, and themselves. Mills actively empowers and supports its teams to bring these ideas to life.

Your COMMUNITY at MIlls

Mills is a dynamic and caring place to work. As the bilingual kindergarten of the KG Group, Asia’s leading arts education organisation, teachers at Mills benefit from a wide array of opportunities to take part in and lead artistic endeavours across Hong Kong and China, as well as within the KG Group. Teachers often bring these experiences into the classroom to empower students as well. Mills teachers make up a tight-knit and compassionate family, fostering a hardworking and caring school culture across campus.

Your life at Mills

Mills invests in its educators ensuring that they:

  • are comfortable and happy living and working as a local or expat resident in Hong Kong, and

  • have frequent opportunities to develop skills and engage in experiences that help them grow and learn

We therefore offer visa sponsorship, private medical insurance, and generous paid leave. We also provide study grants and training in technology, child-care, leadership, psychology, and other skills. Members of the whole KG Group are encouraged to speak out and dissent with an eye to constantly improve all aspects of the group, and therefore the services and mentoring we provide to our students.

How we hire at Mills

At Mills, our community is everything. Recruiting creative, curious, and confident educators and innovators leads to a caring and dynamic environment for our students and it fosters a sense of innovative learning across campus. That’s why we prioritise questions like the ones here instead of black-and-white CVs and cover letters. Upon review of your application, we may reach out for more details regarding your qualifications and experience. However, to filter applications, we’ve learned from years of working with great educators that story-telling is the most insightful way to ensure our students are taught and inspired by the best of the best.

How to make youR application the best it can be

Our hiring methods are different. We don’t accept CVs and cover letters for our first round of applications. Instead, we look for individuals who embody our values of creativity, curiosity, and confidence.

To make your application sing, we advise that you read up on Mills. You can find information on the website, in past newsletters, on social media, and on third-party websites. A good application reflects research. We’re particular about who we hire, and you should be particular about where you work.

Don’t regurgitate your CV bullets into your answers. While we don’t want to enforce a character limit, the shorter it takes you to convey a message, the better. Get creative with your responses — whether they’re poems, whether they’re stories, whether it’s a URL to a video of you — surprise us! Show us how creative you can be.

Before submitting your application, check for spelling and grammar mistakes. You will not be able to edit your application once submitted, so make sure you put your best foot forward and present yourself professionally.
